Here you can find a more detailed description of some of our illustration and animation projects on medical topics. The focus here is on the description of the task and an explanation of the design approach and the process in the technical realization.


To introduce a company founded specifically for the Chinese market, extensive medical illustrations covering "Dental Implants" were required. These illustrations should be used in a guide to the dental implants and tools, but also be used in presentations and training courses. Conceptually, the illustrations aimed at the performing physician and should increase the understanding of the necessary processes and techniques.

In the future interactive 3D content may play an increasingly important role in the internet and also in offline applications. The biggest obstacle has been the missing of a commonly accepted standards with contemporary technology which also has an adequate distribution. Through the establishment of WebGL in HTML5, a non-proprietary 3D standard is introduced that can be used without any plugins in any modern browser.


The Paul Hartmann AG, headquartered in Heidenheim, is one of Germany's oldest industrial enterprises with more than 10,000 employees. Hartmann develops and manufactures medical and healthcare products for the international market, especially in the area of ​​wound care (bandages, plasters, wound dressings). To explain the mode of action of their dressings from their Hydrotherapy product line to healthcare professionals, various illustrations and animations of different wound dressings should be created.


MedicalGraphics worked on a project to explain and document all current standard operating procedures. We created a series of illustrations explaining various steps of the operation.

 "Gams and Schrage" is an advertising agency for pharmaceutical communications and since many years working for a number of large pharmaceutical companies. Together with the "Sabine Meusel GmbH" both partners are now concentrating their skills under the roof of "Gams & Schrage Healthcare Group". The benefits of this cooperation should be communicated graphically through an advertising campaign.


The HBP Health Care Agency required for one of its customers various illustrations of the causes of back pain. Their customer provides painkillers, which are particularly effective for back disorders. For various measures illustrations of specific disorders of the spine should be used.

Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals is one of the "big players" among the pharmaceutical companys and markets its products in more than 100 countries with annual revenues (2011) of around 10 billion euros.  For their website Bayer needed uniformly designed illustrations showing indication of therapeutic areas.

Orthoparc is a new orthopedic center of excellence with five senior consultants in Cologne. For the presentation of their main points of treatment of hip and knee arthroplasty, foot, knee, shoulder and spine surgery. Orthoparc needed a series of illustrations for patient information purposes.



Engelhardt Arzneimittel is an international company with more than 300 employees. As one of the leading brands in the OTC area, Engelhard mainly sells non-prescription pharmacy-only medicines for self-medication. For a new print campaign of cough suppressant "Prospan", whose active ingredient is obtained on the basis of ivy leaves, and under the aegis of the "Gams and Schrage Healthcare", Engelhardt needed an illustration of a breathing human figure whose lungs are made of ivy leaves.

Biolitec AG is one of the leading manufacturers of laser medical devices and researches and markets minimally invasive laser procedures. The product range includes laser devices and fibers for the treatment of benign prostate enlargement, removal of varicose veins and haemorrhoids as well as laser devices for surgical applications and the areas aesthetics, orthopedics and ENT.
