Treatment varices with laser fiber

Illustration of a laser fiber (ELVeS Radial 2ring) with radial radiation pattern for the treatment of varicosis.

Varicose veins, also known as varicose veins, are tortuous and dilated veins that usually appear on the legs. Varicose veins are caused by a weakness of the vein wall and when the valves in the veins, which normally regulate the flow of blood in one direction, no longer close properly.

Laser treatment of varicose veins (endovenous laser therapy, endovenous laser ablation) is a minimally invasive procedure to remove varicose veins. In this procedure, a thin laser fiber is inserted into the affected vein. The high-energy light produced by the laser heats the vein wall and seals it. The vein shrinks and no longer carries blood. Over time, the sealed vein is broken down and reabsorbed by the body.

Design of an illustration for the treatment of varicose veins on the leg. In the illustration, a laser fiber (ELVeS Radial 2Ring) is inserted into the venous system. The fiber shrinks the veins to be treated particularly effectively due to its radial radiation behavior.
