Alveoli

Free illustration of aleoli and bronchi. During respiration, the exchange of oxygen and CO2 between blood and air takes place in the alveoli. These approximately 300 million spherical bulges increase the surface area of the lungs on which the gas exchange can take place to 100 to 140 square meters.
