Graphics Achalasia and Reflux

Illustrations of the severity of achalasia and gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Design of medical graphics for gastroesophageal reflux disease and achalasia. Three degrees of severity were illustrated for achalasia (stage I – hypermotile form – stage II – hypomotile form – stage III – amotile form). In gastroesophageal reflux disease, stomach acid enters the esophagus because the sphincter between the stomach and esophagus does not work properly. The illustrations are based on a sectional view through head and torso by illustrator Heike Blum.
