The animation shows spinal cord stimulation to reduce back pain. An implanted stimulator sends electrical impulses to the spinal cord in order to suppress pain signals and thus reduce the perception of pain. The animation shows the procedure for positioning the electrode in the epidural space on the spinal cord. It also shows the implantation of a plate electrode and the subcutaneous installation of the stimulator (pulse generator).
