Myelinated nerve fiber – dark

Description

Free illustration of a myelinated nerve fibre on a dark background. This type of nerve is surrounded by a myelin sheath, which is interrupted by rings of Nodes of Ranvier. Action potentials are formed there, which jump from ring to ring in order to transmit electrical impulses more quickly (saltatory conduction).
