Illustration gastric reflux

Illustration on the topic of gastroesophageal reflux (heartburn), i.e. the reflux of gastric acid from the stomach into the esophagus.

Gastroesophageal reflux and can be caused by a weakening of the sphincter at the end of the esophagus or by overproduction of stomach acid and occurs when stomach acid flows back from the stomach into the esophagus.
