Illustration pain sacroiliac joint

Design of an illustration visualizing disorders in the left sacroiliac joint between the sacrum and the pelvis.

Background:

The sacroiliac joint is the connection between the sacrum and the ilium of the pelvis. The sacroiliac joint has very little mobility because it is stabilized by several strong ligaments. The sacroiliac joint (SIJ) transfers forces from the spine to the pelvis and lower extremities. Problems with the sacroiliac joints can lead to pain in the lower back, buttocks, hips, or legs.

Project description:

Design of an anatomical illustration of sacroiliac joint disorders for a manufacturer of lasers and laser fibers (Biolitec). Since the illustration was to be used in a wide variety of applications, images were created in very high resolution (DIN A1 – 300dpi).

The illustration shows discomfort in the left sacroiliac joint in a front view. The painful area is marked in red and radiates slightly.
