Key visuals for medical specialties

Background:

In modern medicine, lasers are used in nearly all specialties. The advantages lie in the precision of lasers, which often makes them less damaging to tissue than other methods.

Project description:

For a manufacturer of medical lasers and laser fibers, we created an illustration in the form of a key visual for each medical specialty in which their products are used. These specialties include endocrinology, ENT, gynecology, orthopedics, phlebology, proctology, thoracic surgery, and urology.

The underlying concept was to illustrate the relevant organs and structures for each medical specialty using a transparent human figure. Each key visual was to be available in five different colors. Since the illustrations were also intended for use on trade show booths and posters, the key visuals were created in very high resolution (>14,000 x 10,000 pixels – DIN A0/300 dpi).

The key visuals were designed using 3D models of anatomical structures. The biggest challenge was to achieve a very glass-like appearance on the one hand, while avoiding any distracting distortions caused by the glass on the other. This was achieved by rendering the illustration as a series of individual images, which were then composited in post-production to create the desired visual result.
