Insulin therapy is a medical treatment used to control blood glucose levels in people with diabetes mellitus. Diabetes is a metabolic disease in which the body does not produce enough insulin or does not use the insulin it does produce effectively, resulting in elevated blood glucose levels. Insulin therapy aims to regulate blood sugar levels and control diabetes symptoms.
The animation was used on a health portal to inform people affected by diabetes in German and English. It describes the function of insulin in the body, normal fluctuations in insulin levels, the causes of diabetes 1 and 2, and various devices used to administer insulin.
The animation was implemented using Adobe Flash. The focus here was the realization with only low loading times through the sporadic use of video sequences, since at the time of publication (2007) fast Internet connections could not be assumed.
